To find out that the files were classified under a code that meant a crime may have taken place. She figured out that at least some of Benny's unit was dirty, though she refused to believe Benny was among them. Dex then used the help of Franco Lopez, an IT tech for the DOD, to discover that the military had a transcript of her last call with Benny, in which he begged her to let him come talk to her in person, saying he had something to tell her and only trusted her. She figured out that Benny's unit was dirty and he was the whistleblower, so they killed him to stop the truth from getting out. She went to TJ's house and broke in to confront him, but found him dead on the floor and then she was grabbed from behind and knocked out.[23]Dex woke up in a hospital, handcuffed to the bed. She learned she was under arrest for TJ's murder. She was released from the hospital and questioned by Cosgrove and Kara until Lionel Hoffman came in and said he was reprehending her. They went back to Bad Alibi, where Lionel advised her not to talk to anyone and stay put. Dex ignored his instructions and went to see Sue Lynn, hoping she could find information about the other soldiers in Benny's unit. She used that information to find Robert Wolfe, who was local. She visited him and he admitted that Benny wanted him to file a report and he didn't, which is what led to Benny's death. She also took a picture of four guys in their unit: Robert, Benny, TJ, and an unknown man. She focused the picture on the unknown man's face. She went to the VA, where she identified the man as Kale Murphy and tracked him to a church, where she learned he was a priest. She went into the confessional and started to confront him, but he punched her and fled after grabbing a bag. Dex chased him and struggled with him, which released some of the cash that was in the bag into the church below. Dex took the bag and the rest of the cash back to Bad Alibi with her, where she noticed it was all printed in 2006, when Kale was in Afghanistan. She figured out it was part of the $10 million which had been sent to Afghanistan to help the locals. Instead, Kale and TJ stole it and when Benny found out, they killed him to avoid their crime being uncovered. When the cops came to the bar for Dex, she escaped out the back with help from Grey, Tookie, and Ansel. She believed Robert
